Editorial Policy
Last updated: March 25, 2026
Core Principle
Every review and comparison on ProposalFlowLab is based on independent research and testing. Affiliate commissions fund the site but never influence ratings, rankings, or editorial judgments.
How We Select Tools to Review
We review proposal software tools that meet one or more of these criteria:
- Widely searched and used by agencies, consultants, or small businesses
- Represent a meaningful alternative or comparison point to other reviewed tools
- Have transparent pricing and publicly accessible product information
- Are actively maintained and commercially viable
We do not accept payment from software vendors to review or feature their products.
Our Review Methodology
Each review is based on:
1. Product Testing
Where possible, we test tools using free trials or plans. We evaluate the onboarding experience, core document creation workflow, template quality, CRM integration (if applicable), and support responsiveness. We document time-to-first-proposal as a consistent benchmark.
2. Pricing Verification
We verify pricing directly from official vendor pricing pages. We record the date of verification in every pricing section. We check pricing monthly and update articles when changes are found. We note the difference between annual and monthly billing rates.
3. Feature Research
We document features from official product pages, changelogs, and help documentation. We do not rely solely on vendor-provided marketing claims — we cross-reference with user reviews from G2, Capterra, and Reddit where available.
4. Scoring Criteria
Our star ratings (out of 5) are based on weighted scores across six dimensions:
| Dimension | Weight | What we evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Ease of use | 20% | Onboarding time, UI clarity, learning curve |
| Features | 25% | Completeness, quality, and uniqueness of features |
| Integrations | 20% | CRM depth, payment tools, Zapier, API |
| Value for money | 15% | Price vs feature ratio, total cost of ownership |
| Support | 10% | Response time, quality, availability, documentation |
| Security & compliance | 10% | Certifications, encryption, audit trail |
Editorial Independence
ProposalFlowLab maintains strict editorial independence from software vendors. Specifically:
- Software vendors do not preview our reviews before publication
- Vendors do not pay us to feature their products or influence ratings
- Our affiliate partnerships do not affect which tools we recommend
- We will note negative experiences and publish honest cons, regardless of affiliate status
- If we receive a product for free for review purposes, we disclose this in the article
Update Policy
We commit to:
- Verifying pricing data at least monthly
- Updating articles when significant product changes occur
- Displaying the "last updated" date prominently on every article
- Labeling older data that may be outdated with warnings
